RE: Best Intake and Carbs
I haven't made any mods yet. Just starting this project. Looking for ideas and advise. I know what I want to final product to be like and that's about it. I want a sometime driver that I can tinker with and most of all just want to learn all I can from this project and apply it to future projects.

650 is getting a little big on the carb. A stock carb off a 85 will do you just fine. As for a intake go the performer intake get you close to 300 depending on other varibles. Im running a stock long block only thing differnt is the heads are massage a little. With the above combo im just over 300 hp and 325 tq and it pulls at 6400 rpms

The stock carb from an '85 is a 600 cfm I believe. My current motor is basically a carbed '88 motor with a few minor mods and I run a 650 holley which works great

RE: Best Intake and Carbs
no way there dude a 750 dp..please
an air gap is really nice to lower induction temp..as for the 600 you can always mill the hone for extra flow and play with the secondary spring and throttle cams... we have 600-700hp engine running on lil ole 750 dp's..on carbs bigger isn't always better.....will my big block I would use a 650 dp for street use and a 750 dp for racing.......
