timing question
I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good place to start, I just put in a new distributor and I was just wondering where I should set the timing. The car is a 1995 Mustang Gt with a Kenne Bell supercharger. I'm just looking for a ball park area to start, I bought the car modified already so I have no way of knowing the tune on the car. Right now I put the distributor it at 13 degrees btdc and it seems to run ok, any advice would be great. Thanks

RE: timing question
The car has been dyno tuned in the past, 10 degrees is stock isn't it? It was my understanding that timing should be retarded when boost is added. I'd rather run the car with less timing and make less power just to be safe since at the current time I don't have the money to go to a dyno shop and get it tuned again.

RE: timing question
are you boosting the motor with 13* base timing? 10* is stock. if you can go full boost on 13* base then the car may have a chip in it that is pulling timing because it should be pinging. if you havent boosted yet, set the timing to 10* base and get an msd btm box. it will pull timing for you as you build boost. its the best thing you can do without going to a dyno tuner or buying an ems

RE: timing question
I'd like to be conservative, at this point i'd rather be safe and make less power so should I run it at 8 degrees? I'm not sure what the tune is like that has been done to the car and I have no way of finding out.
