No Compression
Ok I put afr 165 heads on my 5.0 and now it will not start. I have zero compression. How are roller rockers supposed to be adjusted? its a hyd roller still. [:@]man i want this thing to run.

RE: No Compression
I just put all my push rods in, rotate the engine till I see it(number one) go up then back down, then put the rocker on, take the lash out and go 1/2 to 1 turn past lash to get proper preload. With a pedestal mount you will want to get within that turn range with a final torque of 19ft/lbs. if you go more than one full turn, add a shim below the pedestal, if you go less than 1/2 turn remove a shim or get shorter push rods. With stud mounts, you go down to you preload of 1/2 to 1 turns past lash then lock your nut. Then do all the rest the same way.

the are stud mount. how do you know you have zero lash? Also I am running steal cometic head gaskets and my drivers side rear lower headbolt is leaking coolant out around it. its very little how do i fix that?

RE: No Compression
You need to put tephlon sealant on all the lower head bolts.
Check out this for adjusting to zero lash:

RE: No Compression
To find zero lash, you will have to loosen all you rocker arms and let it set to allwo the lifters to come back up, then you slowly tighten the rocker arm while you are twisting the pushrod...kee going till you feel little resistance, then you have zero lash(no up down play in the pushrod)Be carefull to not go to far, since the lifters aren't pumped up, you will push them in easily. With the stud mount rockers I would preload 1/2 turn past zero lash the lock you nut.
To fix the head bolt, you need to put Teflon thread sealer on all the short bolts since they go directly into coolant passages in the block. The only way to fix it would be to pull the bolts, put thread sealer on them, and then re torque.

RE: No Compression
you might want to take all the rockers off and recheck compression if the rockers were improperly adjusted you may have punched a hole in a piston or bent some valves[&o]??? good luck!!!
