I went to a local transmission shop asking about rear end gears, like just an installation. I told him I would bring him the rear end gears and just have him install them. First he goes, oh no we can get all of it, we use "motorsport" gears, which ive never heard of in my life. Keep in mind this isnt some hole in the wall shop. Well so I say okay, how much do you want, he says........as long as everything in your axel is okay, and there are no problems $800-1200 and $300 for the gears OMFG!!!!!!!!! I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????? I said, ford racing gears are only 180 bucks just for the gears. He goes, well if you want to go with a lesser set of gears, I inturupted him and said those are some of the best on the market. I was like the companys say it should cost no more than 150-300 for the installation, and he says "well have them do it, considering it takes 8-9 hours of instalation at $89 an hour" I was just like, okya no thanks, bye. The guy who owns the shop is a friend of my dads, Im gonna go back there and make that guy look like a ****ing idiot.

that really sucks. I hate how the repair shops always jack people around. They buy parts cheaper than what we could, then the over price them to us! (i hate dealership and repair shops!!)

I just called the ford racing tech number and they said the installation should cost 150-200.

lol when I said no I want Ford Racing he made no relation between the 2. And he said motorsports were 300 for the gears. NO THANKS *******.

I just looked, Ford Racing ring and pinion gear prices went up to 200, so maybe 300 was including an installation kit, bearings and all that. Either way, 800-1200 installation is a total joke.

True. The price of steel is going up right now, so gears and things of the sort are getting more expensive. And yeah, 800 bux is too much, hell 300 bux is too much!
