bench test the starter, take the starter off and test it in a vise.

Hook up 12 volts to the starter and make sure it turns like it is suppose to.

if it is the starter...do the 92-95 5.0 starter swap...lighter and more torque!

heres what happened i picked up a motor from someone i know and they removed the distributor for some odd reason. so i dropped it in this past weekend and today i would adjust the timing and then try and start the car. it would start but not turnovermeaning that i was missing. i did this like 3-4 times and after each time i tried to start it i adjusted the timing again. the last time the car sounded like it backfired and after adjusting the timing again it wouldnt start. there was no smoke on any of the startups and i made sure that everything was connected. i cleaned the terminals everywhere and made sure that the connections were solid and the solenoid cant even be jumped but the battery has juice (12v).

now what??
