Changing the gauge of cables won't cause any problems... Unless you go smaller.Have you trieda relay/solenoid from another manufacturer?

did the old one do this?...if no then it's possible the new one has a short........I had one that would start my truck when I put it in gear the starter would engage..to this day I have never seen one do it....it had a short so bad that when they tested it on the machine it kicked the breaker at the store and cut off half the lights in the store[&:]

I agree with 2 kwik. Find another manf. & try again. Its either your starter or solenoid. If you find out its one of them buy good, NEW not remanufactured, high quality, or Ford. Yeah most autoparts stores can get you those fairly priced,& most with a lifetime warranty, But how many times in your life do you want to change something?

Yeah I replaced the relay but with the same brand as before when I replaced it and it does the same thing sticks until i tap it... I'm going to return it and get a better brand the one im buying is GP and only $9.00 I'll get the better one see if that works... If not time to take back the new starter i bought and exchange it since i just bought that and it has a year warranty on it....Ughh...starting problems suck
