sometimes my engine detonates under throttle. i use 93 octane and the base timing is at 10. what could be causing it and what can i do to get rid of it. the engine probably has 200,000 miles on it now but doesnt burn or leak any oil and runs strong.

you have carbon buildup in the cylinders causing an increase in compression ratio.

run a whole bottom of seafoam through the brake booster vacuum while its running. after you've finished, shut it off for 15 minutes, then restart and rev up a little.
