My baby got back. She tipped the scales at at a portly 3625 last inspection. Must be speakers.

I think the notch is 500 pounds lighter than the hatch and I think the hatch has better weight transfer

I vote for the notch. I had an '87 notch but some one hit my sister while she was driving it and totalled it.

the notch is lighter, I personally have a Gt hatch. I like the aggressive look of the Gt hatch.

If you start out with a hatch in goos hape and install good type frame ties and a 6 point bar you don't have that much to worry about.
The weight distrubtion can be better too.
BTW, my hatch without me, is only about 2670# and has 51% of the that on the front wheels.........
is the car completely gutted? that is going to be under 2900 with a drive which is really good.

notches are ligher for dragracing. everyone one has there opinions on how good they look. i used to like gt's more but when i got a notch it is deff FTW!!
