Default Hatch vs. Notch

Which is better? Hatch or Notch? Does one weigh more than the other? Better center of gravity?

for racing a notch because there is no open hatch area to allow body twist I have both a 92 notch and an 85 hatch and now the hatch doesn't line up the best due to all the body twist it's endured

I've heard that hatches have better weight distribution (more on the rear wheels) and also the hatch creates a more aerodynamic body, but ya there's also the twisting to keep in mind.

notchs are also lighter in stock form so u can do less work on them to get them light.... i think over all hatchs look better... altho i have seen some pretty sleek notchs.... personal id take either if i could get htem in good condition

Notch is lighter and stiffer. The steel behind the rear seat and package tray on the notch is what gives it that added stiffness. The GT is just flimsy by comparison. The hatch might be a tad more aerodynamic but thats about it.

Notches are stiffer, but I prefer the look of the hatches more.

If you start out with a hatch in goos hape and install good type frame ties and a 6 point bar you don't have that much to worry about.
The weight distrubtion can be better too.
BTW, my hatch without me, is only about 2670# and has 51% of the that on the front wheels.........
