1987 Mustang GT - I am not a motorhead by no means. I know enough to hurt my pony, but this is my delima. A few weeks ago, the bendix and starter remainded engaged when I started it and even after I shut it down unitl it finally took out the bendix. I have replaced both the starter and solenoid, and it does the same thing. I have to disconnect the battery before it will stop. I have triple checked the wiring. Any other suggestions?

 

Where did you get the starter and solenoid at?

 

Both from Advance Auto. Just went back and exchagned the solenoid. Seems to have taken care of the issue....for now.

I had similar issues...i upgraded to a starter off of a 92-95 5.0 and no more problems....

 

i had the same problem with my 93 GT. I removed the starter and greased it up really good and it never hung up again.

 

I had the same exact problem in my 87. I found it to be faulty wiring issues. I took off the wire that goes from the key swich on top of the solenoid and wired a push button switch to that same placeand never had another problem.
