RE: Rear End QuesTion..??
Don't try to do gears yourself if you've never done it before. You'll **** up the shims and end up with noisy gears, if you can even get them in right. No disrespect, but get someone who knows what they're doing to help you so you can learn.

If you want to do them yourself read this page. You will have to have a few tools to do the job correctly.

I installed my 3.73's myself and they turned out fine, the hardest part was compressing the crush sleeve while laying on my back in the driveway. There are some excellent writeups on the web, that and the right tools you can do this job on you own. Good luck.

Try and get a pinion depth tool. It will help out so much, so that you don't have to press the inner pinion bearing on and off a bunch of times trying to get the right shim behind it.

My friend and I did my gears on my 93GT, helps that my buddy used to be a Ford mechanic. It's not a normal do-it-yourself job, but with patience a good set of instructions and the right tools it can be done. I agree the hardest part was crushing the crush collar and mine was done on a lift!! If your not confident doing it ,bring it to someone who can, or you'll spend more money repairing what was done wrong, imo.

I went through 3 sleeve before I got it right. Luckily I had to whole rearend out of the car setting on a couple of sawhorses. That made the whole job a lot easier. I took it down to a bare housing and completely rebuilt it. It was the first one I did and I followed that website I posted and the rear hasn't come apart yet and I beat the leaving crap out of the car. Luckily I know how to fix the crap I break.
