Default c-clips broken?

i can get about 1/8" of play side to side in my rearend when i lift it off the ground and grab the wheels. this definitely explains the wobble ive been having too.

im just trying to figure out what i need to replace/fix. can i just buy new c-clips and have them installed or do i need a new traction lok with new shafts?

dont have alot of money to spend. least amount of parts/labor the better. dont really care to upgrade to 31 spline, my car isnt a power house.

I think that if the C clips were broken the axle would pull right out.

+1

Plus I think a little play is normal cuz you have to push the axle in to remove the c-clip.

Sounds more like a bearing than a c-clip. Side to side movement is bearing related, in out is c-clip or internals.

well i described it wrong.

i can yank em in and out. enough to see shiny part of the axle shaft which means it wasnt like that before.

it makes a lil bit of noise too and the wheels wobble.

A broken C-clip would let the axle slide out while driving and would likely find its way between the ring and pinion or end up lodged inthe diff somewhere. Youd know if you broke a clip.

Also inspect both seals for leaks and/or tears and your axle shafts for any ridges. If you find any sand them down so theyre smooth again. Check the shafts where the bearings ride for the same.
