what would make a new thro-out baering go bad?

unconsciously driving around with your foot on the clutch pedal will do it.

check the clutch cable adjustment to make sure the throw out bearing in not being loaded at all when the clutch is fully engaged. it's only supposed to be under a load when the clutch pedal is pushed in, not when the pedal is all the way off.

if your going to replace it you prolly should also replace the mushy alum throwout bearing retainer with a steel one, they sell them at summitracing.
