Default Switching tranny from auto to manual

How hard is it to change out tranny's? If I were to get a car that was an auto and wanted to put a manul in a 1994 or 95 GT or Cobra, what is all involved? And what type of manual tranny should I use? I am just trying to keep options open in case I can't find a GT or Cobra with a manual tranny right off the bat.

well.. a buddy of mine just did it.. CrazyPony is his name on here. he got it all togather and hes having major trouble with clutch cable not working right. I think his flywheels way to thin. But as far as swaping out trannys and putting in the clutch assembly.. honestly its very easy theres a few tech articles on it do a search... but depending on how much hp and everything you were going for and how much cash you had. Id just use a stock freshend up tranny new clutch n flywheel, then you will need a clutch cable and clutch pedal assembly.. I think my buddy had like 500 bucks in everything from stock t-5 to clutch..

Ok thanks. So a T-5 would be a good one to use on a mustang that I'm going to mod? what about clutch kits, what is the best one to use as far as daily driving on a modded car?

I am trying to get an idea of what I need to do ahead of time so that I dont' get into trouble down the line once I have the car.

So is a T5 the stock tranny? Is that the best to use for a mustang 1994-1998 GT or Cobra? What about clutch kits?

honestly it pretty easy to do a trans swap but if you are planing to mod your mustang put a world class or a ford racing or a tremec trans in i never had good luck with the stock t-5 my opinion is their junk i have a ford racing heavy duty t-5 it was in a mustang that over 500 horse power a ran fine
