Default AFR 165 or 185's

Right now I am looking at just a basic 5.0L 92 LX setup with most all the bolt ons. LT's, CAI, Performer Upper, (mass air with larger injectors to be added as well) Has E cam but might get more agressive when I add the heads.
I am debating on which AFR head to get.
For just what I have now I think the 165's would be plenty. But my debate is on if I do a 351 swap I would want the 185's or if I stroke or FI the 5.0L is the 165's enough.
Main thing is if I went with the 185's to cover my possible future mods would it hurt me any or much on the milder setup?
BTW what size injectors would be needed to keep her satisfied? 24's? and would the 150lph pump also need upgrading?

The AFR 165's are more than enough for a basic 5.0 and they will be fine on a very mild 351. Just upgrade to a 255 lph fuel pump and never worry about it again. Just get 30's and not have to worry about upgrading for a while.

Parts matching is parts matching, a head that's good for a mild 302 isn't the same as for a wild 351. Get 165's and if you build a 351 later you can have the 165's ported or you can get different heads

If you can get your pistons notched fairly easily I'd go with the 185s, if not the 165s will make good power. People have run 165s on 351s and people have run 185s on 302s, both with pretty good success. Either head is very good.

the head bolt holes on the 165s are 7/16 and the holes on the 185s are 1/2 and 302 block has 7/16 holes and a 351 has 1/2, im not sure if there are any bushings or studs out there to bolt a 302 head on a 351. anyone know how this can be done cause im wondering my self.

you can have the holes in the 165s drilled out by any machine shop, and for the 185s they make reducers to use the smaller bolts.

There arehead bolt kits i have found that have the bushings in them to use a 7/16 for a 1/2. They with have and extra application noteabout the bushingsby em if they do. As long as you dont plan on strokin the 351 out 165 would be fine and plus then you could use them now and not have to flycut or get new pistons.
