Default 5.0's & 302's

Are the '83 and up 5.0 engine blocks the same as the '70's era 302's? If not, how are they different exactly?

I don't think so, I know the 87-95s are all High Output roller motors, and I thing the 85 and 86s may be as well, the earlier models were non ho motors I beleive. The ho motors made more horse power.

Weren't there some differences with the roller and flat tappet cams in them?

85+ blocks are made for roller lifters.

The big differences will be roller vs flat tappet block, and whether or not it has the threaded hole for the z-bar in the mech clutch linkage
