what to do
ok so i picked up an 88 lx on monday. it ran ok, i found out that it had the wrong computer but the one with the mass air conversion was still in the car. i switched them and the car idled low like 700-800rpm. it sounded like it wasnt even running. so yesterday i was at a light and tapped the gas to go it stalled and then i had no power at all. the car needs a good amount of work all the wiring in the car is junk its all dirty and everything is brittle/ falling apart. i paid $3000 for it. what should i do - 1. keep it and fix it, 2. sell it as is, 3 part it out. if i fix it im almost tempted to gut the entire car and rewire the whole thing.

RE: what to do
It's not the guys fault who sells you the car expecially if he told you it had problems....as a buyer you need to have general automotive knowledge of what to look for when buying a gem or POS. Most mustangs have been rode hard and put away wet. RULE #1 before money ever exchanges hands you should have a car inspected by a qualified shop possibly run it through inspection......then you know where your at...I'd rather loose 60-75 on an inspection than 3000 on a POS. If you didn't do that and just bought the car because you thought it sounded good and ran okay then serves you right! Don't take that the wrong way but hind sight is 20/20 now. If you perform an idle relearn that may help your idle problems...you'll need to disconnect the battery for a while to clear the KAM. Then follow instructions they are all over any forum how to do it.

RE: what to do
yea believe me i already know that. im not blaming the guy, it was one of my friends fathers and ive known him a while, but thats besides the fact. i used to be a mechanic and do have knowledge in the field. it has no power cuz it stalled yesterday and then lost all power. so ill have to do the relearn neways. but thanks for your input.

good luck with it.....sounds like a nightmare....I've spent 8 years restoring my 250.00 dollar POS 85 mustangthat I thought was a great deal at first[&:]. I'm almost done yeahhhhhhh!!! but that's when you sell it and the process starts all over again!!!
