Default 460 question

i was lookin around at the different years for the 460 and noticed that the most common 460's to find are mid 70's... These motors made about 215 hp and 350 ftlbs of torque.People say these motors are easy to get 450 or so hp out of... when they say that are they talkin about the early motors or the later? im sure th mid 70's 460 make little power because they are choked up like crazy..

I dont know, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be that hard to get that kinda power. I mean it is 460 cubic inches......

Are you looking at just dropping it in, or doing a rebuild 1st?

you could take one of those choker 460's from the mid 70s and toss in a 100.00 flat tappet cam that would still use stock springs (nothing radical obviously) and along with a 4bbl intake/carb and some headers/dual exhaust you would be ripping people new ******** (and not have spent crap to do so)

im gonna rebuild it first thats why im not too worried with what poer it makes stock. After new internals, a cam, intake, carb, head work and exhaust... id like it to make at least 400 hp but id be alot happier if it was closer to 500
