nothing has been done to the car after the back fire

IAC is the idle air controller. given that an over rev caused your idle problem, the IAC is not the culprit.
how bad was the backfire? gunshot? or just a pop
over and over? or just 1

and it sounds like IAC is not ur issue... however... im still thinking what it could be...


how are your brakes? pedal stiffer then usuall?

i assume u dont have a vac guage? if u do tell us what vac is at idle... i have a feeling you MIGHT have a large vac leak, such as an unhooked hose or somethin, which would not effect WOT, but would noticably effect idle.......i asked about the brakes because power brakes work off of vaccum

can runs fine brake feels just like it used to ac runs good... when the back fire happened I was spraying at 5800 rpm or so, and then I heard and felt a backfire and smoke came into the bottom of the car. The backfire was about as loud as a loud pop and there may have been more than one. The car was dead so I pushed the clutch in and when I let it back out the car came back to life but had this idleing problem. K so I took the harness off of the TB (the small one and the big one) with the car running car off with the key on ect.. and it still idles around 2K with ac on or 2400 without. Do you feel that the IAC could be the problem? Maybe I should just replace it

do you spray through the TB or do you have a direct injection kit?
