i just bought a power steering pump because the one on my car went bad well i install the new one and the pully is loose and if im not mistake it should be pressed in what do i do???? please help i have no ride to work tomorrow
If you had to remove the old one with a puller then all is well you should have to press on the new one with the bolt and washer set up that comes with a new pump....if your's slides on...I'd suspect a worn shaft pulley on the reman one and or the wrong pump....I'd take it back and exchange it for another one...
if you can slide the pulley off the old pump, AND slide it onto the new pump, have you considered the pulley might be worn? too tight of a belt can cause a press-on pulley to come loose from the shaft.
