Default Headlight switch?

When i got the car some one rigged up the switch with a junk switch. Went to the junk yard got one off of another mustang and hooked it up. When i hit the first click in the switch i have no dash lights or parking lights, soon as i hit the second click i have healights no prob. Ive double checked the wiring and made sure i matched the colors up, any ideas what it may be, not to good in the electrical area.

Sounds like a bad junk yard switch. A new one for me was only 30 bucks.

autozone sells them pretty cheap, if you go to ford you'll pay 3 times as much
