Junkyard/DIY Performance

RE: Junkyard/DIY Performance
Ford racing's shorty headers M-9430-P50 and M-9430-P51 are now angled for compatibility with GT-40P heads. They go for about 250 stainless steel, and $300 ceramic coated. I wonder what kind of fitting issues you would encounter trying to use the headers from the explorer you take them off of...I doubt it would fit, and most likely wouldn't be worth the time or money trying to customize it.

Anyone want to recommend which cars you could swipe the MAF setup from (or parts of it) for the speed density guys (87~88) to convert to mass air?

I was at a 'pick-a-part type wrecker today in Tucson,Az.
Complete 5.0's for $150, what they call 'basic' meaning no accessories, $125.
8.8 axles, complete, drum to drum, $50.
Dunno about AOD's didn't ask.
They had probably 5-6 already pulled and I saw another 3-4 in cars while searching for some small parts for my '84.....
Patrts are out there guys.,,,,

If you know any salvage yard parts that will increase performance for the 5.0L mustang tell about them here.
1982-'83 Lincoln Continental, Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, 1987-'88 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, or SVO Mustang can be used for rear disk brakes on the mustang.
I know the Ford Explorer GT40 intake & GT40P heads offer quite a few hp, but I am unsure the year(s) they came on the Explorer.
The 91 & below year mustang starters can be replaced with the ligher more efficient units on 92+ mustangs.

RE: Junkyard performance
-i have heard that the factory computer calibration in the 88 mustangs with 5.0s perform better, and each year after that the calibration got less powerful. for 88-93's I'd guess. I think for even the 5 bucks or whatever they would charge u at pick n pull u probably won't see enuf difference doing this tho.
-I got a 600 dollar alarm out of a car for 5 dollars. works doors, remote start, windows, trunk, gas lid, everything it was a steal. ordered a remote for it for 35 dollars online. Definitely worth looking out for, if your not afraid of installing one. It came off a 88 mustang, I drive a 90 mustang so everything is already set up correctly just wire it in using wiring diagrams.
-turbo ford probe injectors are like 24 lbs i think and will work on mustangs. U have to find 2 turbo probes to get enuf injectors tho.

RE: Junkyard performance
A note on the Lincoln Mark VII rear end, the Mark VII came in three different configurations: 1) standard 2.73:1, 2) LSC 3.27:1, and 3) turbo diesel 3.73:1. Thought that may help some of you junkyard dogs a little as far as identification goes.
EDIT: these ratios are for the 1985 Marck VII's.
