O2 or NOT

RE: O2 or NOT
CEL = check engine light. You have no O2 sensors yet you have no codes and no driveability problems? Okay, just to make sure... we're talking about fuel injected right? You don't have a carb do you?

He may need to run the koeo and koer tests to view his codes, the cel does not really let you know very much about the codes you may or may not have, the tests are the only real way to find out.

i dont have mine on either but its been tuned out by my piggy back chip. you can tell if you have a chip by removing the kick panel on the passenger side interior which will reveal the computer. look on the bottom end of the computer, the end facing the floor board and you will see the chip piggy backed on given its a flashed chip.

If it's EFI....you do need the O2s for the system to work to spec + learn from its adjustments (=adaptive strategy) however, you haven't had any "driveability" problems due to the system being able to estimate the A/F, and no other circuits have had a problem. I've worked on, and known of other cases, where the O2s have been "on vacation" for years w/out major driveability problems....the system will auto compensate by using the other sensors and "estimate" A/F under the FMEM strategy it will automatically switch to....+ there are O2 failures that will cause the system to run better if the O2 is not connected......you do need to replace them though.....and confirm there are no other problems by running the self-tests.

joel you can program a chip to send dummy 02 readings to the computer thus keeping good idle characteristics. once in open loop the info from the 02s are useless thus no need for 02sto be hooked up if piggy back chip is burned to send the desired signal. another thing is that koeo or koer tests are useless if a chip is in place. the factory setup must be in place for this to work.
