Default temp gauge and speedo problems!

well i just replaced the ect sensor and the other sensor that works with it. the temp gauge still doesnt work. what could be wrong with it? the speedo doesnt work either, what do i need to replace? thanks

The ECT is for the computer, not for the gauge. The sending unit for the gauge is just one wire. You can test your gauge by finding that one wire, and grounding it out with the key on. You gauge should jump if it is working.

On my car, the sending unit is on the driverside lower intake near the front.

the sending unit only has a 1 wire hookup. should be an L shaped connector that slides over the top of the sensor. just take that connector and stick it up against some metal somewhere, that will ground it. the gauge should jump up to hot.

i just grounded the wire and the gauge is still laying down to the right. then the gauge doesnt work right? what do i need to do?

how hard is it to replace the gauge? can i do it or do i have to take it somewhere?

might be the wiring going to the gauge. start tracing that 1 wire, look for pinches and fraying in the insulation.
