Default Cooling Help

Right now I have a pretty much stock motor with a 180 stat, 3 core radiator and stock clutch fan. It cools fine BUT I was messing with the radiator and the bottom pulled out and when I started it the fan knicked it and now its pouring out coolant. Its time for a new radiator anyway. Im looking for responsesfrom people making over 400hp+. I was looking at getting this Fluidyne radiator with possibly a Taurus E fan. Also, I can just run a radiator for a manual car if I plan on running a seperate trans cooler (not built in) right?

Here it is...

My fluidyne fit like a glove in stock location and Mark VIII fan with 1/2" trimmed off front of shroud
also fits perfect, with about 1/4" clearance to water pump pulley.

Cools like a *****. Fluidyne alone keeps it at 180 when driving and fan only comes on
when stuck in traffic or at light.

For an auto, the best possible cooling method would be to get a radiator with a built in tranny cooler, then run an aftermarket cooler on the return line back to the tranny.

TTT, anyone else? Anyone with personal experience of running both setups? Internal rad/trans cooler vs external trans cooler vs both? Does anyone have any temp readings on different setups?

Sorry, I can' t offer you much assistance here. I do run an external trans cooler only with the stock radiator. This is with an AODE and a shift kit. The engine coolant temp is fine (as measured by my tweecer) but I can't give you exact numbers on the tranny temp. It seems to feel fine though.

If it cooled Fine before, why change it to an aluminum rad and electric fan? use the money on something else, my new Mustang brass rad, 3 core cost me $129.00, thats $260.00 dollars in the pocket.
I won't get into the clutch or electric fan thing!
On everything we have built, we never needed anything but brass, till well over 500hp on the street, we put out over 700hp on our TT 3.0 and we put in a aluminum, because we got such a deal from our supplier, then took 3 of them, till we got 1 without a dent on top of the tank.

My .02 worth.

summit dual row aluminum rad for 250.

dont waste your money on these brass copper rads....we've had lots of threads on this lately. might wanna look them up. aluminum is 30-40% more efficient at cooling than brass copper.

if you want ill link the posts after lunch. it will be enough for you 400+ hp. i know from the local speed shop, they love these summit rads.
