removel of fuel pressure regulator
we put the H pipe back on the car with the cats on it because we need to go for emissions on my 88 mustang lx. We still failed and they said the car was still running a little to rich. The people who owned the car before me had a fuel pressure regulator on it. Now it looks like i have to take off upper intake to get to the fuel pressure regulator because it looks like its on a bracket and the screws are on the bottom of the bracket. WHy its like this, I dont know i would think they would make it easy to get to by having the screws on the top. Maybe there is an easier way to get to it or something. Any ideas?

RE: removel of fuel pressure regulator
i dont think you can get it off unless you take upper intake off and fuel rail loose, sorry man, I have to take mine off to put on my regulator. Im just gonna wait til I put my new heads on so that crap will be easy to get to

RE: removel of fuel pressure regulator
well maybe i can keep the fuel pressure regulator on and just adjust it. But where on the fuel regulator do you find the pressure. I haev a pressure gauge and all taht but how do i find how much pressure the fuel regulator is using? Do i have to remove anything to get to that. or can i keep everything on? i figure i can just lower the fuel pressure for emissions but i dont know where to check for the pressure. i hope someone can help.

you can do it with the intake on it takes alot of patiance and time and you will also need to cut about half off the allen wreches short side to fit it under the regulator to remove the screws.

RE: removel of fuel pressure regulator
let me elaborate on what roundman said.
here is the gauge and fitting i got, and there is the schrader valve that you remove to screw the gauge in.

RE: removel of fuel pressure regulator
The pressure regulator CAN be installed/uninstalled without taking the manifold off, I did mine. Take the throttle body off to make it easier. Doesnt take that much time to do.
