I have a 90 gt stock for now except the aod is built and has a 2500 stall speed convertor. Eventually I will be doing a HCI swap but i wanna do the rear first becuase it has 140k on it. It has the stock 2.73s The motor has 55k and the trans 500 miles. Should i got with the 3.55s or 3.73s

4.10 are the best choice, I went from 3.73 to 3.90 and should have just got some 4.10's

ORIGINAL: nitrous_bob

if you plan on twin turbo or are just afraid of your car go 3.55's , it will feel slightly better than stock

if you are afraid to pull the tires off the ground w/ slicks, go 3.73

if you want to get everything you can get , go 4.10's

each gearset over stock will raise apx 250 rpms, so a swap from 3.08 to 4.10 will raise rpms by about 1000 rpms total in any given gear, you will drop about 1-2 mpg w/ 4.10's and tach 3000 doing 85 mph

just my opinion devildog.........but i've had a few 5.0's

good info man, I have been torn between these two ratio's also.. 85 at 3000 seems fine to me

Which is better for a daily driver
Most of your replies are focused towards et and not driveability.

It's a choice YOU have to make. How important is daily driving mean to you VS et.

Most daily drivers have a pretty hard rear tire. Anything with decent tire life is not going to hook up with a deep gear, not even a stock 5L.

I don't know how fast some of you guys drive on the highway but I have 3.73's with a relatively small tire 235 45 17. I hate them for daily driving. I often take off in 2nd and let's just say I"m not in the passing lane driving home from work. 2500rpm is pretty much as fast as I feel like pushing the engine and I'm definately getting less than 20 mpg.

There is no correct answer here.
