cuts off for a split second and then works just fine?
if so, i would look into the tfi modual on the distributor. my car did that for a while. $0.50 worth of dielectric grease fixed the problem. just recently had the same thing happen to a buddies car but the problem was much worse. same thing fixed his problem as well

i did a little more investigating, i pulled the cap on the distributor, seen some metal shavings. not good, i heard that if u run a high volume oil pump.... which i do.... i can't run the msd distributor, well u could but not the bronze gear cuz it will eat it up, so i ran the steel gear on stock distributor, and sure ****, it ate me gear up and wrecked my distributor. now i need a new distributor, and different gear. i heard some fixes for this so i'll have to check into them. anyone else have a distributor gear problem with their high volume oil pumps????

I had a gear problem with my high volume, but that was because i had a polymer gear for track use only. I dont know who said you cant use msd with high volume, that is not true. I dont see you having metal shavings inside your cap unless it is from the rotor. I called my cam maker and he said to use a cast iron gear for my dizzy. the msd gear was about $12. Do you still have the 5 qt. I run a moroso 7 qt. Call the cam company and see what gear they reccomend.
