Default AODE problems

Well when I bought my car I was shown a reciept from a good local transmission shop that gave details of my transmissions rebuild. It is general but shows some components that went into the trans. I contacted the shop and they said the owner supplied aperformance rebuild kit that was installed and a high stall torque converter. The problem I am having now is while driving at lower rpms while under load (level or up small hill) the rpms will jump around as if the transmission was slipping... (its not but feels as though it is) if I press the gas slightly harder it will go no slipping no hesitation, and no shuttering. I was wondering what could cause this problem, if I actully accelerate hard the transmission is amazing shifts rock solid and has no problems. Any advice on what to try, the transmission is coming out in a few weeks and I am trying to get the problem fixed before it gets worse. Thanks
