ok, so I finally got around to changing the spark plugs today. and as I was changing the passenger side plugs I noticed a broken hose or line of some sort. I'm not sure if I broke it or it was already broken, but I'm not 100% sure what it is. It's on my '87 GT, its a very thin line(thinner than a straw) and it's right by the air filter. One end of it plugs into something near the firewall, and i'm not sure what it goes into, but I'll attach some pictures to help you out.

this is the spot it goes near the firewall

this is the break in the line

and this is where it comes from.

hope this helps.I'm new to this so please,if you guys could tell me what this line is called and what its for that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Looks like the vacuum line that goes to the diverter valve for your smog pump system, which is for increasing the efficiency of the catalytic converters.Definetly fix it so that system works properly and soyou don't have a vacuum leak.

That's exactly what it is. Get a piece of rubber vacuum hose and slip over both ends to connect it back together.
