All The Basic Needs
Just wanted to post up real quick and ask a question or too. I searched and didn't find much,didn't know if this could be a good sticky for other morons like myself. Totally new to Stangs,looking for a 5.0/5spd car,needing a nice dependable daily that's still fun to play with from time to time on weekends. I've spotted a few cars,seen a lot of junk ones also. Seems most of the nice cars have already been played with,intake,headers,Flowchickens,cammed up etc.
Just wondering what would be some basic things to look for on these cars? Still got lots of reading but when I look at one or see a ad on AutoTrader when they appreviate(sp?) everything then I'm left wondering WTF is that<--moron. Just don't want to find a nice looking car and end up having to spend thousands on it because some fool half-assed it,know what I mean. Any help to get me looking in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

a few common abbreviations you will run into are: CC= cruise control; PW= power windows; PL = power door locks; PS = power steering; 5.0 = V-8 engine; 4.6 = smaller V-8 engine; AOD = automatic transmission; T-5 = manual transmission; tilt = adjustable steering wheel;
Always test drive the car and ask the seller if you can have your mechanic take a look at it. If they say NO, then walk away from it as they are hiding something wrong with it. Ask to see the maintenance records for the car if the owner has them he should let you see how it was maintained over the life of the car. look closely at the bottom of the fenders and rocker panels for signs of rust and corrosion and inspect the underneath of the car also for signs of fluid leaks, rust, accident damage, etc. check the tire wear to see if they are wearing evenly, especially on the front tires. if you can, have a friend or relative who knows more about cars go with you when you look at a used car and let them help you examine them before you make any decisions about buying one.
