86gt efi to carb, what carb what intake?
and is it worth it. can i make more power for cheaper with a carb and intake? i know the 85 gt 5speed cars came 4barrell and make 215hp where i make 200, however i seem to remember 86 made more torque than 85 carbbed motors, and i dont think 85 had flat tops or these heads that mine has. i came across some heads with a d06e casting too and a set of 351 with d00e want to know from those in the know if either of these heads are worth using. the 351 almost looks exactly tha same but the smaller valve is a tiny bit bigger on the 351 heads, visually thats all i noticed.they look adjustable on the rockers too. i have a blown head gasket as far as i can tell, not bad just steam, so i need to take everything off and why not get differant heads if the wont mess with my flat tops. i have a reman old school points dizzy that i ran on a carbed 302 a while back, but was wondering what would happen if i left the fi one hooked to the ecu and ran it with the carb if it would work or help me in any way as far as timing advance and that thing

D0OE heads will not work with your flat tops... your boned....
and you wont make any more power just by switching to carb.... your head/cam combo (stock) sucks

sorry bout the caps...ok so does the 85 have differant heads and cam, i assume so right?
so nothing but trick flow will work as far as heads?can the pistons be notched to work?im debating a differant motor all together

pistons CAN be notched, the 85 had heads similar to the 87-95 motors...
If I were you... i'd start looking for a new shortblock. Preferably from a 97.5-2000 exploder
swap out the cam in it and you have a cheap *** h/c/i combo WITH shortblock...

what do those blocks usually go for price wise? cant be too cheap. and swap out the cam with what? not whats in my car right??? run it speed density too?
sadly i might look for a a sn95 im tired of how crappy foxs handle but i want a 5.0
so sn95 is the answer even though they are so heavy. an edge is out of the question, hate the motor plus cant afford one. might just drive my firebird till it messes up too and go from there as to what to do. i like my 86 but not as a daily driver after almost dying on the freeway when someone suddenly stopped and i couldnt stop or control the car

probably grab a shortblock for about $500...
and you swap in an aftermarket cam... not your stock POS one.
SN-95's arent as heavy as everyone makes them out to be. ~100lbs heavier than a hatchback fox ISNT alot.. im actually getting very tired of hearing that nonsence

welli know u know... lol, i was told it was like 300lbs!!! but never bothered to check...its like everyone who thinks a notch is so much lighter than a hatch. usually they are like 50lbs lighter depending on the years compared. i can deal with an extra 100lbs for better everything. do 94-95s have abs?

generally a 96-98 is faster in stock form but only because they came with a slightly... and I mean SLIGHTLY shorter gear ratio.. stock
drop a set of gears into a 94-95 and you can be in the low 14's if not knocking on 13's
