i bought a 91 mustang gt they said the clutch was bad. i replaced it with a spec stage 2 now when i put it in gear and let the clutch out the car doesnt move but i can hear something in the trans moving. any idea what could be wrong? is the trasmission shot? another thing i noticed on my driveshaft at the tail of the transmission there is a metal peice that wraps around it it looks like it could lock together or something is that suppose to go in the tail of the tranny?

 

Does your tranny go into gear...any gear? Can you drive it? Mine will make noise if I take it out of gear, not moving and let the cluch out(that is normal), but if I put it in gear and let the cluch out, it will move the car.....

 

Sounds like the transmission is shot and if the peice hanging out the back is what I belive it is that is the yoke bushing that goes up inside the transmission. I'm betting the input shaft and or cluster gear is toast. Try taking off in fourth EASY and see if it will move, 4th is direct driven from the input shaft but if you have no other gears yeah time to get a rebuild.
