how to tell if gears were upgraded
how would you tell if a fox has had a gear upgrade? I just bought a 91 5.0 lx vert. it has a 5speed, a stage 2 clutch, a shortthrow, exhaust, ram air and pullies... how would I beable to tell if the gears were upgraded? should I look at the differental bolts, or should I take it to a performace shop/mustang shop to see?
or would I beable to tell by the way it drives?

RE: how to tell if gears were upgraded
jack the rear of the car up both wheels of the ground mark the drive shaft turn one of the rear wheels around onetime aroundan see how many times the driveshaft goes around....if it goes around 2 1/4 times it would be a 2.73 if it goes aroud 3 and a half times it would be a 3.55 and so on. or take the cover off and count the teeth thats always fun pinion teeth and ring gear teeth.I cant remember what the calculation is im sure you can find it on the net easy nuff.It might be stamped on the gear what it is....thats about it

Most people will remove the axel tag if the gears have been swapped.
But for the ratio, here is a calculator that works if your speedo is correct( tires size, and corrected speedo if geared):
