Default Roller or not??

This should draw some opinions.

Should i keep my 1980 block a flat tappet or get the crazy roller conversion thing and convert. does it really matter??

well it depends on the purpose of the engine is it a daily driver with the occasional track use are you planning on running high rpms i would recommend hyd roller setup but if your planning on pulling high rpms then maybe using solid roller i personally like the roller setup better less friction quicker revvs its easier on valve train parts smoother running just my 2 cents

Many advantages and disadvantages to either.

As long as you can afford it, roller is the way to go.

Solid roller. Many manufacturers have street rollers and with todays technology you may have to adjust valves 4-5 times a year. That is if your wallet can stand it.

Hydraulic roller for the street, more power and reliability than flat tappet, set it once and be done

Skip the conversion and just get a later block if you want the roller. Alot cheaper. You can make good HP with a flat tappet cam too though.
