never weld in sub frmes with the tires unloaded if you have access to a drive on lift this would work best. use a bottle jack to raise the conector to the body until it has enough pressure to hold itself in place without moving (not lifting the car) and weld her up if you get this wrong you will end up with the "mustang lean" so you may want to find a buddy who done it befor to help you.

i drove my car onto a set of ramps, then put jack stands under the rear axle. That way the chassis is loaded but you get about an extra foot of room to work, make sure the car is as level as possible

Make sure the car is level, and the weight is on all four wheels. If nothing else get four "platforms" you can rest the wheels on to get it high enough to get the work itself done. You need the wieght on the wheels so the frame and everything is in proper alighment.
The point of the SFC is to keep the frame from flexing while undress stresses (Acceleration or sharp turns). So you want the frame to be in the most level position as possible from the start.

when I welded mine in... I made blocks all the same height for each tire and did it in my garage where it was flat... no problems and i paid like $9 for the wood
