RE: Cold Air Intake Question
Speed density was what the Mustangs used to read airflow and meter fuel before Mass airflow was introduced. Speed Density has a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor that has a vacuum line hooked to it from the manifold. Mass Airflow has a sensor right after the intake filter to measure the airflow. I believe that Mustangs switched from SD to MAF in '89. I'm not too sure on the advantages of one over the other, but you will have differentpeople tell you that each one is the best.

RE: Cold Air Intake Question
use the stock air filter system. you wont gain hp with a bbk, i have one, it gets VERY hot under the hood and you can loose hp that way. also the air filter can let more dirt in, sure you can spray it w/ oil, but the oil can get on the MAF and then u got idle and power issues. the stock air filter is easy to get ahold of, any parts store, the bbk, not so much.

RE: Cold Air Intake Question
I havea modifiedBBK fenderwell kit on mine. I really like it, it makes things look clean and you dont have anugly looking(opinion)air filter to look atwhen youopenthe hood.
You need to know whether you have speed density vs mass air ona CAI setup because the mass air meter takes up about 5 inches in the intake plumbing. So if you bought a mass air CAI for a speed density car you would have to make up the 5 inches of distance you are missing since you don't have a meter there. Likewise if you bought a speed density CAI kit for a mass air'd car you would need to hack about 5 inches out of the intake plumbing because it would be too long to fit the meter in.
If you have 89+ you have a mass air'd car (also '88 California Mustangs had mass air as well) otherwise its speed density.
This is what it will look like if you have a mass air'd car.
