Default 1995 cobra

I have a 95 cobra 5.0, and i curently have a problem with it but i am not sure what it is. I took it to the track and the fastest time that i got out of it was 17.2. i was launching at about 4200 and throught first gear i had the power that i should have but once i shifted to second i got nothing all the power just dissappeared and i can't explain it, so i am open to some suggestions as to what the problem may be. The car is preatty much completly stock except for the exhaust a cold air intake, I had the t-5 tranny rebuilt 2 months ago the clutch is not stock but i didn't put it in so i am not sure what it is(very stiff though) i recently put new wire plugs and changed the distributor cap and rotor.

Bad? It's a Cobra! Most v6 stangs can click off a 17.2, there is something terribly wrong! A tune up? And Gear ratios?? It is something more in depth than that, 3.27's aren't that bad of a gear, should put you in the 14's easily..

What transmission do you have in it? I would expect a T-5.. Take it to a shop have an estimate done on the damage what ever it may be.. Sounds like a tranny problem to me, maybe a terribly worn out clutch?

What kind of tires do you have launching at 4200 rpm?

now now, i know damn well it could be 10* retarded and run crapy and be gutlas... could have faulty wires that only fail under a heavy load, or what not ... you never know......... and also if your RPM's are climbing pretty quick, but your not feeling it pull as fast, that would be the clutch...

Yeah, if you are having trouble under loads its most likely the spark plug wires. But might want to get it all checked out just in case.
