225 & 178 at .500 vs. 223 & 168 at .500

For that small a difference, isn't there a big price difference?

AFR's by FAR!
Ya know, i keep hearing that, but on my 5.0 dyno software I compared the Ed's against the AFR's and there was only a difference of 1 ft. lb. of torque and 2hp.

Now I know that not ALL engines will respond the same or get the exact same numbers as another motor to the same mods and bolt ons.

I payed 1100 for my Edlebrocks and i think i'll pocket the 250.00 i saved in leu of the 2hp loss, if it's really that much at all.

Now if I had an extra $500, i'd have gotten the AFR's. Since I was on a budget and had other stuff to purchase and after everything my engine builder buddy told me i decided to get the Ed's and spend the rest on my cam and some APR bolts.

Either way I don't think you'll be dissapointed with the AFR's or the Edelbrocks. Just consider your budget and what you actually plan to do with your car in the future..IE Forced induction......

Like I stated in the other thread, it is all in how you set up your set of AFR's.. You will be waiting a month or so to get them because they dont make them until you order them, that is unless your speed shop keeps a set in stock or you buy them used. If you find a good used set you can get them from about a grand, and will walk all over Edelbrocks. The Edelbrocks are a good all around head sure, but to compare, a set of AFR's made almost 30 (27) more horsepower on the same 306, now let that speak for itself!

Like I said, both are a HUGE improvment, but if you want the absolute most power from a bolt on head, the AFR's are the way to go.

Where did you get that from? The post before mentioned 2 HP. I found that they flow almost the exact same amount

I got it from a MM&FF mag, it all depends on what mods you already have, in this case it was a fully bolted on 306.. It will be different like you said on each motor. If you have a 302, 306, 327, 331, 342, 347, 351, etc....... It all has factors that cannot be determined unless you have one of each, and a dyno!

Yes, these two heads are the biggest for 5.0 Peformance, almost any head comparison will include both the edelbrocks and afr's, being that they are both excellent products.
