Default Battery size

I need to puchase a new battery. My problem is the group 58 size has like 500-600 cranking rating which seem like a little bit to be. I have put a size 65 group from a crown vic with 1000cca and it seems to fit. I was wondering if anyone else had done this also and was there any problem with it. Basically the battery is just wider than the original. Was also wondering what size battery the cars with the police option received?

Default RE: Battery size

It doesn't matter how many cca a battery has cause all batteries will produce a nominal 12.6 volts the cca is just how many amps it'll deliver in cold weather I have an optima battery in mine that is rated at 1100 so you'll be fine...if you want more storage capacity to run a stereo system and whatever when the car is off like when your in a parkin' lot chillin' with your friends then rig up a dual battery set up
