Default Carb Question

I've got a quick question what does the V denote when talking about carbs. What does 4 V mean compared to 2V? I have an Edelbrock #1406 carb, is it 2V or 4V?

also the 1406 is a 4 barrel carb or 4v carb and it's a 600cfm electric choke carb
