i ran just mufflers for a while, and sounded loud, but raspy i guess, kinda ratty, i put turndowns on it and reflected them more out than just straight down so it didn't rap off the ground, sounds awsome, loud as ****, but not too bad, smell really isn't ever a problem unless u sitt in traffic with ur mustang wich i'm sure just bout nobody does, but other than that u'll be pleazed. U won't lose any horsepower, there is no way that taking away more restriction will cause u to lose it with the little bit u take away from your exhaust, if anything i have noticed a improvement on how my car ran, i wouldn't say faster at all, but just seemed to respond well.

I dont have troubles with the smells. Sitting still for a lil while you may get a wiff but you should be fine.
+1. Never had smells inside the car but only with the windows down and its not bad, just a wiff like 90_Mustang_GT said. If you get the exhaust smell inside your car with the windows up I'm pretty sure you got some leak/problem. I have never encountered that.

so when you chop off the tail pipes do they just come out of the hanger things or do you have to cut the hangers as well?

id let about 4 to 5 inches at least at first, it's easier to cut more off later then to be screwed, cut them, and put the dumps on see if it looks good to u, if not just cut away a little more. you'll need enough room for the clamp for the dumps if your not gona weld it on

just a fyi. if you can i would save your tailpipes so you can just swap them back for a inspection sticker. inspection stations will let some thigns fly but that is a definate red flag.

hmm on my flowmasters the tail pipes are being held on by clamps, if i loosen the clamps will the tail pipes just slide out? its a 88GT i was lookin at it today and where the mufflers are makes it kinda hard to cut anything cause as soon as the tail pipe leaves hte muffler it bends upwards over the rearend... mmmm and the hangers how do i get those off? i plan on holding onto the tail pipes just incase but i won' have this car long enoigh for next inspection so i don't care really

They should.. You can always heat the outlet up with a torch and try to wiggle the pipe out.
