Default Headers glowing

Every time that i turn the car on, the headers start to turn red at the bends. It starts first on the drivers side on the 3rd cylinder. I know to retard the timing, i tried but there is a point where you retard it so much that you can not turn the car on. Any suggestions?

You're running too lean. Check your fuel pressure and intake hoses (and intake) for air leaks. Retarding the timing will help to a point.

The ignition is stock up to the distributor. I bumped the fp up to 60, it was running fine b4 with the fp at 60 but now its glowing. I dont know if i should go anymore thanthat, what do you think? Could i run injector cleaner through it. I upgraded to 24 lb injectors about 600 miles ago and they were running fine. I did not have my mafhooked up properly until just now. Possibly the problem?

I dont know if the maf being hooked up wrong would hurt it or not. Run it again witht he maf hooked up preperly and try it again. Maybe since you switched to 24#ers the computer only thought they were the stock 19#ers and that was why you were lean.

some manufacturer recommand changing to different plugs .
(Too hot of a plug may, however, indirectly lead to a runaway pre-ignition condition that can increase engine temperature.) Rather, the main effect of a "hot" or "cold" plug is to affect the temperature of the tip of the spark plug.

fuel pressure sounds too high to me... 60psi? Probably running way fat.
