Default guys help me out with intercooler.

hi guys, what do u guys think of this intercooler.do u guys think its too small? iam helping my buddy out on his single turbo project but we kinda got stuck at the intercooler. he got 90 5.0l with stock internals except intake and exhaust.we r gonna run about 8 psi boost max.do u guys think this intercooler would be lil bit too small.the reason we r thinking about this intercooler is so that it fits right inside the vallance...if thats what u call...the lil area on the bottom of the frt bumper.due to the size of this i/c it should fit inside there and have nice cross flow of air keeping everything cool.what do u think guys?by the way the car is 90lx coupe. does anyone tries these intercoolers?they r priced super low so iam kinda hesitant.

thanks guys.

i dunno guys.pricewise its all good its just it seems like it might be too small.i still kinda feel it might do its job considering we r only hoping about 320-350hp....we gonna start out with 6psi but may increase to 8psi max.ya i know a guy who got a custom built intercooler for 900$.same what i am lookign at but was shorter by 3"..so worse come to worse i might be able to sell it out locally to some civic guys given its not doing its job on 5.0l.i have seen guys running supercoup's intercooler which is small too and had no prob cooling 8-9psi boost.i dunno guys iam lost.

if you stay below 9 psi with that intercooler then you will be ok. most people with 5.0s that turbo run 11-15 psi because they want to make 550-600 RWHP.

sparco makes a good one and turbotonics has one to. but they might be a lil pricy.

WTF? It looks like they made an air/air intercooler with an air/water core. It would be a good size, but I wouldn't buy it just because it looks like they put an air/water core in for an air/air intercooler. Go find an intercooler out of a wrecked vehicle @ the salvage yard. Find one from a diesel engine, they are pretty common.

yeah guys i think iam gonna wait for a real intercooler.i know its cheap and all and would fit real nice in the bumper but i always thought it was for a 4 cyl civic , or other 4 cyl cars.
we r using 91 supra turbo for now but might get somethign else once we tune the car. my buddy used the same setup on his s-10 p/u with 350 and he had no problem getting 11-12psi boost outta that turbo. that is until he blew his engine cuz waste gate hose came off one day while he was driving .he says he saw boost gage going to about 16-17psi right before he heard big bang.!!!! now hes starting from scratch again.
