what gears
ive tried to search this topic but i keep coming up with no results. my car seems to make good power after 3000 rpm and i have the factory 2.73's in my 8.8 causei put a new rear end in my 85. this is a street driver and will see the track half a dozen times a year. im not concered about the highway cause i only 60-65 mph on it anyways. what gears should i get to make my car rip?

i have 3.73 but if i was to do it again i would get 3.55 the only down fall is you run outta gear too fast with 3.73 and higher 4th toped out im only 135-140 and crusin in 5th all the time sux

besides that i love my 3.73s. i had 2.73s w/ a 5spd b 4 too. ur rpms only go up about 400 in 5th. used to be at 1800 in 5th at 65 now im at almost 2200 its not bad. all highway i get 20mpg and around town babying it shifting at like 2k i got 20mpg but i average about 16now just cuz i cant resist hitting the gas... thats prob the major downfall... every time i dive her i gotta punch it somewhere.. lol but i do about 50/50 town/highway. you will love them just like i did. just make sure you break them in propperly and get the trac loc rebuilt while ur in there. adding an extra clutch to the trac loc is a good idea too.
im not sure if ur doing them urself or getting them installed but her is the breakdown of what it cost me:
$22 - Pinion Seal
$10 - Royal Purple 75w/90
$6.50 - Friction Modifier
$75 - Clutch packs
$70 - Posi labor
$105 - Gear Install Labor
$12 - Speedo Gear
$195 - Ford Motorsport 3.73 gears
$20 - Pinion Bearing
$26.43 - Tax
$554.93 - Total
