Default Electric Fans on 5.0

I have a 130 amp alternator and a small 50 watt amp for my stereo in my 88 GT. any replies on you guys that have the electric fan set up which deletes the fan and fan shroud. any horse power gains or just wait reduction? i'm sure there is horse power gain, but gimmie some input from the guys that have it and is a 130 amp alternator good enough to run it?

the 130 amp alt should hold up well(do u got a good battery it helps) the stereo is no problem and the fan should work fine. It definitely would free up horse power because deleting the fan would free up drag caused by the fan in turn creating horse power

i have an electric radiator fan and a 150 amp alternator, also a decent sound system and had an MSD 6AL. the alternator held up great, yours should too. and the power increase from a fan is noticeable. you should be ok.

one more thing, when you wired your fan where did you connect it, and does it run all the time. what i mean is do you have to manually control it with a toggle switch or can you attach it to your temp sensor in someway so it only runs when needed. reason i ask is my temp sensor doesnt work in the car and i can get this fan cheap from a friend of a friend of a friends cousin tommorrow. gimmie some info and same me some pain, i hear power drain problems from not hooking them up right.

i have the same fan as dbeck. i also have the 6al, and amp and running the stock alternator. i have a heat probe on my fan. when the radiator hits 185* my fan turns on. its also wired to the a/c clutch so that when the a/c clutch is engaged the fan goes on regardless of engine temp. in the pictures the wires are going all over the place but i have sense used zip ties to make it neat

Oh btw way, i mounted my MSD underneath my Cold air intake, ran the wires thru tubing in front of the radiator, i had mine where yours is, it cost me 20 bucks in wire protective red tubing , gold connectors for battery terminal connection, red wire straps and 2 hours of patience put it looks swank, thought i'd mention it to you since might look good on yours with the red intake you have. all the stuff is at autozone.

i always admire persistance... keep working hard and your results will feel 10X better than having someone do it for you, its almost like getting high or having sex...

a little more routing on the wires by the battery is going to look better, but the basic effect.
