HERE'S your answer!!! some say that the mexican blocks have a higher nickel content making them stronger than a standard 289/302 block other articles dispute that...I have a whole write up on it but one thing for sure is the main caps are stronger than a standard 302 and are the same main caps that were used on hi-po 289's.....but what the b-50 block "aka" sportsman block for those who have no clue.... offers slight advantages over the mexican block in that it has added material in the main webbing area to strengthen the bulk heads were 5.0's normal stress under high hp applications and break...........so if it were me I'd pick the sportsman block over the mexican block due to added material and more advanced technology of the day.....however, both area viable option over a standard 302 block

Mexican........ early 289/302 blocks is the baseline used to "highlight" the B50 "attributes" over a stock 302 block.....including the "added material" claims...... I wonder why?... + an early Mexican block is a "seasoned" block choice.

I still think you should just put up the money and get a boss... especially if your planning on boosting your 347
