Ihave an 83 mustang that just started to idle inbetween 250 and 500 rpm and the exhaust smells really rich. At first i thought it might be not enough fuel by the way it was running butthen Inoticed the exhaust started to smell rich so I dont think thats the proplem.

Did you try and adjust your idle? I don't know much about carbs, but I would look there first if it drives fine.

I dont know that much about carbs either but i will do some research and try that

That idle seems way too low.
My car wont even idle below 900 rpm. Ive got mined turned up to 1100 so it stays running.

imo check all vacume lines check spark make sure your wires arnt shorting out on anything check plugs then if problem persists rebuild carb. thats my 2 cents. I remember when my FI was ideling crappy and running rich i had a cracked vacume line
