Default cylinder head for my mustang...

I'm looking for a cylinder head for my 1985 GT convertible. I just want to pick up a stock one that I can put back on without any problems. What other year Mustangscan i get a used head from?

should be a E5TE, which means any other E5TE or E7TE will be a prefect match. if your head is a E5AE (which i doubt) then you want a E5AE or a D8OE which will be a perfect match.

the casting number is on the bottom of the intake runners next to the deck surface of the head (in english its on the bottom of the head)

Also, look for GT-40P heads off a V-8 Explorer.

Sorry just checked the head for the numbers and it is a E5AE head. Are these goin to be a lot more rare to find? And what years would have a E5AE or D8OE head? Also why did you doubt it would be this head?

87-93 have the E7TE heads, with the exception of the 93 Cobra which has the GT40 heads.

E5 heads are the older crappier heads. Most Fox-body stangs came with the E7 heads.
E7, GT-40 or GT-40P heads will bolt up as easy as your E5's, why not upgrade a little?

E5 heads came on mid 80's V8 mustang and thunderbirds

I see.So theE7TE or E5TE heads would bolt on just as easy as putting on the E5. I wouldnt have to change anything up top like the rocker arms or nothing right?

They look and bolt up the same, E7's just have better internal flow.

Same for the GT-40P's off Explorers and they flow even better than the E7's
Only issue with these is the spark plugs screw in at a different angle and can sometimes
get too close to the header. Widely used part on our Stangs though.
