Default 91 octane qustion

im running 91 octane and i think my car is timed to 14, it seems tho that if i run 87 that you can feel more torque in the lower gears, but when i put 91 in my car it feels less torque but i climb the rpms alot faster in the lower gears, anyone know whats goin on? in the picure there are the two timing marks on my dizzy

Timing is set too high for 91. Try lowering it. why you don t have spark knock when running 87 I dont know.

Your car was designed to run at a base timing of 10 degrees on standard unleaded gasoline......14 degrees is fine as long as you don't notice any pinging and you run preminum gas..around here it is 93 octane and I run an 11 to 1 motor on 93 octane and 15 degrees base setting with a total advance of 34 degrees...and no pinging ever!!!......you need to use a timing light and remove the spout and set base to start at 10 degrees using the pointer down my the balancer and marks on the balancer to time it correctly

check your harmonic balancer, it could be no good... like MJR said... and also, it looks to me like your distributor is about a tooth off.. check in the tech articles for my thread on how to properly stab your distributor
